SCASL Administrator
of the Year Award Application
The Award for Administrator of the Year was first presented in 1979. SCASL
annually honors school administrator who has made a sustained, unique contribution
toward furthering the role of the library media center. Building level principals,
as well as state, county, or district superintendents are eligible for nomination.
District administrators are responsible for broad instructional leadership,
such as assistant superintendents, directors of curriculum and instruction,
and directors of education are also eligible. Membership in SCASL is not
required for nomination.
Purpose:
To recognize an administrator on the
school, district, or state level, whose vision and
leadership has contributed substantially to the school
library media program in one or a group of South
Carolina schools.
Criteria:
The following information must be completed
according to the directions provided below. Label
all sections. Do not exceed space limitation indicated.
Font size must be no less than 12. Do not use folders
or binders. Extra materials will not be considered
(i.e. photos, newspaper clippings).
A. Cover Sheet. Please include this
information:
Name of Nominee, Title of Nominee,
School or District Name, Business Address and Telephone.
Is Nominee a Member of SCASL? How Long?
Name of Nominator, Position of Nominator, Address and Telephone of Nominator,

B. Write a statement of the nominees outstanding and sustained contribution
toward furthering the role of the library and its development in elementary
and/or secondary education emphasizing (two pages)
Administrative leadership and effort
Contribution to the concept of effective school library service.
Success in interpreting the role of the school library in the statewide educational
program.
Supportive data must be included in the text of the statement in narrative
or tabular form. References to publications and speeches must be documented
in footnotes.
Completed applications must be mailed
and postmarked no later than December 1, 2007 and
mailed to Betty Jordan, Awards Committee Chair, 114
Nims Spring Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29715. The committee
cannot consider any applications postmarked after
the deadline. Applications by email or fax will not
be accepted.
The presentation of this award will be made at the SCASL annual conference.
